Objectives: 

1. SS.912.C.3.5: Identify the impact of independent regulatory agencies in the federal bureaucracy. 
2. SS.912.C.3.15: Examine how power and responsibility are distributed, shared, and limited by the Constitution. 
3. SS.912.C.4.2: Evaluate the influence of American foreign policy on other nations and the influences of other nations on American policies and society.

  1. 3. Analyze the reasons for the electoral college and the pros and cons of continuing to use it. (Write pros and cons on the board in a T-Chart) (10 min)  
  1. 4. Have students debate their views in a whole group discussion about the electoral college and its efficacy. (10 min)  
  1. 5. Journal 39 – Should the United States continue to use the Electoral College? Why or why not? (rest of class)
