Aim: How is the Executive Branch of the U.S. designed?  
Bell Ringer: Current Events (CNN10) 
Objectives: 
  1. 1. Students will analyze the structures, functions, and processes of the executive branch as described in Article II of the Constitution. 
Agenda: 
  1. 1. Bell Ringer (10 min) 
  1. 2. Filing (Portfolio Update) (10 min) 
  1. 3. Read from the Presidential Elections episode on BP: "Way Back When" packet. (10/15 min) 
  1. 4. Analyze the reasons for the electoral college and the pros and cons of continuing to use it. (Write pros and cons on the board in a T-Chart) (10 min) 
  1. 5. Have students debate their views in a whole group discussion about the electoral college and its efficacy. (10 min) 
  1. 6. Journal 39 – Should the United States continue to use the Electoral College? Why or why not? (rest of class)
